Janelle JohnsonJanelle Johnson is part of the late 1970s United States art movement that created the explosion of decorative painting.

Janelle is highly trained in the style of classical decorative art through the school of Kingslan & Gibilisco, located in Omaha. She is self-taught in the color pencil medium.

While living in rural Kansas, Janelle’s representational work focused on floral, still life, and wildlife.  Upon moving to Florida, her strong foundation in color theory and design guides her current work in portraiture.

For two decades Janelle developed her multi-media style with an emphasis on colored pencil. She shares her love and knowledge of the medium by conducting weekly workshops from her studio in Mount Dora, Florida. The workshops are limited in size to eight students who learn using the online live Zoom format. Janelle has developed a unique teaching style that gives her access to working individually with each student. The students receive evaluations of their work during class time, through emails, photos and online drawing tools.
